Rain Down...

There is a real sense of expectation in the air at college right now! Students are seeing salvation in their friends, family and co-workers lives. It’s AWESOME!!!
Creativity is really flowing amongst the student body as well. Just last week we had one of our creative events in the City, “The Box” where over 80 students came to just hang out, bring their creative gifts (singing, playing, art, poetry, etc) and share it with the student body while we enjoyed ice cream and coffee. It was refreshing and just pure fun!
It’s approaching Spring and this is a season of “refreshing” sunshine, rain, longer days and just absolutely beautiful weather; however, recently in Sydney we had a dust storm like never before come through and leave a layer of thin red dust on everything.
It was quite a phenomenon to behold! Shortly after we had a beautiful Spring shower come and wash it all away. It was a refreshing rain that left everything beautiful, dust-free and fresh.
I think that often we have friends/leaders in our lives that are like that refreshing rain, leaving a sense of joy, life, hope and love in our lives; however, at other times we encounter the acid rain people/leaders that leave a wake of damage in our lives; discouragement, attitude, or even havoc.
In a season of life when many seem to need refreshing, I’m reminded of a scripture from Proverbs 16:14-15, “An intemperate leader wreaks havoc in lives; you’re smart to stay clear of someone like that. Good tempered leaders invigorate lives; they’re like spring rain and sunshine.” (the Message)
From this scripture we are reminded to stay clear of those who are like acid rain but encouraged to be the kind of leader who is good tempered; who leaves a healthy deposit of invigoration in peoples’ lives and leaders who, simply put, are like the spring rain and sunshine to those around us.
Everyday we ALL have opportunities in life to be that kind of leader/friend to people that allows them to walk away empowered and encouraged.
Embrace the opportunity to be a fresh rain in peoples’ lives and remember, God allows us to firstly be refreshed in His presence before we can go out to be refreshing to others. So go flood goodness into the lives of those around you!
