Introduction to Evening College
Introduction
Hillsong Evening College offers a wide range of short life changing courses that are designed for people who wish to increase their ministry skills yet also have other commitments. With four different steams to choose from you can tailor your own study options to suit your lifestyle!
Stream 1: Ministry Basics
Ministry Basics is a holistic training course that will help you learn to apply God’s word in a very practical way, as we study the Bible, Leadership, Lifestyle and Theology. This course will help to equip you for your personal ministry.
Note: These subjects do not gain credits towards a Cert IV in Ministry, if you are wanting to study for accreditation see our Ministry Foundation Courses.
Each subject runs for 7 weeks and you can choose to study per subject, semester or for the year - to fit into your lifestyle. Why not sign up as a Connect Group and take advantage of our Connect Group Discount!
Learning Sessions:
One night per week for 2 ½ hours in total (2 hours of learning) and will include 2 teaching sessions, 1 application session + a supper break.
Teaching Sessions – each week will include 2 x 50min sessions - lecture style
Application Sessions – each week will consist of 1 x 25min group session where homework and previous teaching sessions will be used to stimulate discussion.
Homework:
Each week you will get a small amount of work to complete @ home. It should take about 20 minutes to complete and it will be used to stimulate discussion the following week in our Application Session Time. There is also some “Advanced Questions” for those who wish to do more in-depth study.
Course Acknowledgement:
Subject certificates will be issued to those studying individual subjects and those completing all four subjects will be presented with a course completion certificate at the end of the year.
Attendance:
Each week we ask that you mark your attendance on the role provided. 80% attendance is required per subject to receive your course completion certificate.
Subjects include:
- Bible
Learn how to read the bible devotionally and for study purposes. Study the historical background to the bible, how to use the bible, study tools, how to get new revelations from the bible.
- Leadership
Learn effective leadership qualities and skills that can build your own life and the lives of others, seeing the kingdom move forward. Expands on what Godly leadership principles that are found throughout the Bible.
- Lifestyle
How to build a strong devotional life: how to find your purpose in God, and live a life that can fulfil that purpose, how to hear from God.
- Theology
Develop a personal theology in a biblical and thoughtful way that will be a blessing to you and your church community.

Stream 2: Ministry Foundations
This course caters for those who are interested in studying on a short term basis. The subjects can be studied by Semester or Year. The subjects taught are all from our first year full time accredited college courses. This means that the subjects you study will give you credits towards a certificate or diploma in ministry with Hillsong international leadership college.
Each subject is 14 weeks giving time and space to explore key topics more thoroughly. You can also choose to do assessments with your study, thus earning credits with Hillsong College or just enjoy the teaching without assessments (not that credits are only obtained when studying with assessments)
Note: this course does not cover sufficient subjects to gain a Cert IV in Ministry but the accredits can be used if you choose to complete a Certificate / Diploma or Advanced Diploma with Hillsong International Leadership College.
Learning Sessions:
One night per week for 2 ½ hours in total (2 hours of learning)
Teaching Sessions – each week will include 2 x 60min sessions -lecture style
Assessments:
Assessments vary between short answer questions and exams depending on subject.
Course Acknowledgement:
Subject certificates will be issued to those studying individual subjects and those completing 2 subjects will be presented with a course completion certificate at the end of the year.

Subjects Include:
- Old Testament Introduction
This subject provides you with an introduction to the Old Testament and consideration of God’s progressive revelation of Himself through the Old Testament. You will learn how God prepared the world for the incarnation, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the birth, life and witness of the church until culmination of all things. - Christian Doctrine
This subject surveys some key doctrines of the Christian Faith. It looks at the teaching of those doctrines in the context of modern Christian living and examines how they apply to everyday faith. The course includes: The word of God, righteousness and sin, humanity, Angels, Satan and Evil Spirits, salvation, the church& end times. - New Testament Introduction
This subject provides you with an overview of the New Testament and each of the books, linking it to its historical background, the ministry of Jesus and the growth of the early church. You will also develop the knowledge and skills required to read and study the NT for your own personal growth and for use in ministry. - Personal Evangelism
This subject will help you develop your Christian evangelistic lifestyle and your ability to build appropriate relationships with non-christians. You will also learn to share your own testimony in a constructive and concise manner without using Christian terms. - Spirit Filled Living
This subject covers many aspects of the Holy Spirit including Jesus and the Holy Spirit, gifts of tongues and interpretation, learning to minister in power,
divine healing, laying of hands, baptism of the Holy Spirit and Walking in the holy spirit.

Stream 3: Faithworks
Faithworks will provide you with keys to living an abundant life, it will launch you into a new level of faith, commitment and leadership in every sphere of your life!
Every believer is saved and called for a God-given purpose. Living a powerful Christian life involves finding and pursuing God’s purpose for your life. Here you will be introduced to what the Bible says about God’s purpose for your life and how it fits into His purposes for His Church in this generation. You will discover how you are personally and uniquely shaped for your destiny, how you can identify your purpose, and what qualities will help you successfully fulfil your purpose.
Learning Sessions:
One night per week for 2 ½ hours in total (2 hours of learning)
Teaching Sessions – each week will include 2 x 60min sessions -lecture style
Assessments:
Year 1 assessment is a reflection journal on what you have learnt whilst studying each Semester.
Year 2 assessment consist of 1 short answer questions assessment and a 1 short presentation
Course Acknowledgement:
A course completion certificate will be issued for completing the full year of study.

Stream 4: Lifekey Courses
We can all be better equipped to lead successful lives but sometimes life throws us challenges that take us by surprise and leave us wondering how to overcome our circumstances. We offer great short courses (7 to 10 weeks) that address the issues of ordinary people, struggling with everyday life. - Valiant Man
Valiant Man challenges men to step up and become what God created them to be. It is an opportunity to conquer the issues of sexuality - Search for Intimacy
This course explores finding a life partner and handling sexuality, it gives a framework for life that empowers you to have fulfilled and successful relationships. This course is for guys and girls, whether you are dating or single - Search for Life (This course is a pre requisite for Facilitator Training)
Everyone has a heart felt desire to be valued, accepted, loved and to feel that they have significance. Search for Life addresses these needs and explains where the desires originate and haw we can negotiate them well - Woman to Woman
Every woman carries with her the strengths and weaknesses of her background. She carries the legacy of her past into all her relationships – family, business and church. This course will show participants how to free themselves from the past and focus on the future and provide strategies and skills needed to make positive and lasting changes in relationships. - Boundaries in Marriage
You long for a marriage marked by lifelong love, intimacy and growth. And it can be yours – if you set wise boundaries. Boundaries are the “property lines” that define and protect each of you as individuals. Get them in place and you can make a good marriage better and possibly even save a less-than-satisfying one. By the time you’ve completed this course, you will know yourself and your spouse better than ever before. - Making Marriage Better
This course is a great tool for married couples and topics include: keys to a lasting relationship, the origin and purpose of marriage, communication, investing time, family of origin, conflict management, sexuality and intimacy. - Divorce Care
This course aims to bring hope and healing for people experiencing separation or divorce. Each week you’ll hear from experts on topics related to divorce and separation via DVD. - Grief Share
This course is designed to provide support for people recovering from the deep hurt that comes with the death of someone close. Our aim is to see God bring healing and hope for your future. - Facilitator Training (Prerequisite Search of Life and Key Leader’s referral)
This course contains a strong component of practical group work with development of related skills. It aims to lay a sound information base in behavioural, emotional and spiritual aspects of recovery.
